Leonard Cohen | Supermoon | Prayer for the Messiah
LEONARD COHEN’S LAST INTERVIEW – “When I get up in the morning, my real concern is to discover whether or not I’m in a state of grace.” – Leonard Cohen (Sept. 21, 1934 – Nov. 10, 2016)
Aloha, Dear Friend!
Thank you for all the love you sent to me on my birthday. Your phone calls, texts, emails, and Facebook messages made my heart happy. I feel deeply grateful be in community with such soulful friends and amazing ohana!
My November 10th birthday celebration was bittersweet with news of Leonard Cohen’s death on the same day, just two days after the presidential election that shocked the world.
Be inspired by this gift of Leonard Cohen’s last interview, recorded by David Remnick only a few weeks before he died.
Grace flows from his voice and a deep, clear sanity echoes in the words of the poet, songwriter, and Zen monk, the son of a Kabbalistic scholar. He left a legacy that I find so inspiring I invite you to listen to the sound of grace. It’s a reminder that all things arise and return to the source, and that the wisdom of impermanence can be a great comfort rather than a source of fear.
Thanks to New Yorker Magazine, writer David Remnick, and Elephant Journal for re-posting it. My birthday gift to you, Leonard Cohen’s last interview:

From The Last Interview:
“It’s very compassionate at this stage; more than any time in my life, I don’t have that voice that says, ‘You’re f*cking up.’ That’s a tremendous blessing.” – Leonard Cohen

SUPER MOON BATHING CLEANSES EXCESS FIRE
Last night, I stood on the lanai of my rainforest loft and felt moonbeams pouring over me. The simplest of acts of pleasure and worship can be pivotal. Moon bathing is fun, free, and it feels good.
If you’re one of those people like me who likes to arise at 3 or 4 in the morning you’ve noticed the moon coming closer in recent days. In fact, the moon hasn’t been this close to Earth since 1948 and won’t be again until 2034.
The moon’s distance from Earth varies because it follows an elliptical orbit rather than a circular one. Like any full moon, the Supermoon would appear bigger when it’s on or near the horizon rather than higher in the sky, thanks to an optical illusion.
The Supermoon appears on the horizon at sunset and causes unusually high tides because of the moon’s closeness and its alignment with the sun and Earth.
Enjoy some moon bathing tonight! It’s a great way to cleanse the mind, body, and spirit, and it is especially powerful in helping to cleanse the body of excess Pitta, the fire element related to heat and anger.

PRAYER FOR THE MESSIAH
His blood on my arm is warm as a bird
his heart in my hand as heavy as lead
his eyes through my eyes shine brighter than love
O send out the raven ahead of the dove
His life in my mouth is less than a man
his death on my breast is harder than stone
his eyes through my eyes shine brighter than love
O send out the raven ahead of the dove
O send out the raven ahead of the dove
O sing from your chains where you’re chained in a cave
your eyes through my eyes shine brighter than love
your blood in my ballad collapses the grave
O break from your branches a green branch of love
after the raven has died for the dove.
From Leonard Cohen’s last album.
