Angel Shower for Children | Song, Food, Art, Love | Dec. 20
Aloha, Noble Friends!
The children who need song, food and love in Kona are going to get an angel shower of it this Saturday. Here’s some great news!
Keoki Kahumoku (pictured here) master of the slack-key guitar and winner of the 52nd Annual Grammy Award for the Best Hawaiian Music Album in 2010 will be performing for keiki with his amazing grace. Also Solomon Choo, Devora Kalma, Stewheart and Dana Tomasino will offer Christmas tunes, originals, covers and sing-alongs throughout the day.
Cecily Reading, Kitchen Captain and Reindeer of the Highest Order, is meeting with us today at the incredible Hawaiian Food Basket to assemble more supplies for the sit-down dinner for the keiki and families who have a real lack of proper nutrition in these difficult times.
Unless we change the way we honor honest work as opposed to rewarding the exploiters, we will see more people without decent living wages. The income discrepencies have become huge, and people living below the poverty line will receive a significant boost from Saturday’s Feed the Children event. Families will be able to take home five additional meals for keiki during the long 3-week vacation from school lunches this year.
MORE SOUL FOOD!
Susan Gallery will be setting up the Feed the Children Art Frames and offering her astonishing artistry by helping keiki make painted scarves as presents for family and giving them the opportunity to paint silk GOOD LUCK BANNERS TO BANISH CHILDHOOD HUNGER, an art project bringing awareness to issues of nutrition, social, economic and ecological wholeness, wellness and creativity.
But here’s the big news: SANTA is coming! With two of his best ELVES! Presents from benefactors throughout the island have been so generous it gives me chicken skin. Keiki will have individual TALK STORY WITH SANTA, VISITS WITH ELVES AND TAKE-HOME GIFTS.
